Admission Information

Welcome to Bay University School of Medicine

The Bay University School of Medicine facilitates learning through the latest educational curriculum and extensive hands-on experience to gather knowledge and apply it in real-world settings. As a graduate of Bay University School of Medicine, students not only gain certifications and become eligible to take the United States Medical Examination (USMLE), they succeed too.

Admission Schedule

The Bay University School of Medicine enrolls students for its PreMed and MD Program in Spring (January), Summer (May) and Fall (September). Prospective students can choose to begin their medical studies at any of the three semesters and for that reason, applications are accepted throughout the year.

Each semester is 15 weeks long with a break of 2 weeks in between each semester. The year-long three semester schedule is easier for students to get started and finish quicker. That means, completion of six semesters of Basic Sciences in 2 years, and the start of clinical rotations at ACGME accredited teaching hospitals and University approved clinical centers in the US.

The Bay University encourages students to to submit their completed application at least 4 months prior to the semester of their choice. Early applicants will have a better chance of getting admitted to the school as the class sizes are limited.

Admission Requirements

The Admissions committee at Bay University School of Medicine conducts a careful admissions process that looks at each applicant thoroughly. There are several factors that are considered as relevant predictors of a good medical student. Through the application and the interview process, the admission committee wants to know as much about the applicants, their GPA and performance on standardized tests. This allows the committee to determine whether the applicants have the motivation, commitment and curiosity apart from their academic ability to complete the rigorous medical school curriculum. Once admitted, course withdrawals must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar on or before the tenth official day of the session by submitting a completed Course Withdrawal Form

Pre-Medical Program Requirements

The Pre-Med Program is designed for high school graduates (those who have completed 12 years of schooling) or its equivalent, to act as a stepping stone for the MD Program. The PreMed Program is designed to facilitate the smooth transition to the MD Program of the University through its innovative curriculum.
